1. What is this Challenge all about?
It is all about “Innovation”. Professional Electronics Design Engineers, Hobbyists & Budding Engineers are encouraged to design and build innovative embedded systems using the Freescale Kinetis L Series MCU.

2. What is the Eligibility Criteria for the Contest?
The Challenge is open to all persons 18 years or older as of January 1st, 2014 who is Indian residents, who can speak, read and understand English.. All the Please refer to Rules and Regulations for more details.

3. How do I enter the Contest?
All Participants must Register for this challenge and obtain a Registration ID – Login/Password and then submit their abstracts to enter the contest. Click here to register.

4. We are a Team/ Group. Can we enter the Contest?
Only individuals can enter the contest, provided the eligibility criterion is adhered to. Read more about Participation criteria in Rules and Regulations.

5. By when can I Register?
Register NOW!! The registration starts on January 10, 2014. All Abstracts must be received before 11:59 p.m. IST on April 10, 2014. Abstracts received or postmarked after 11:59 p.m. IST on April 10 2013 are ineligible.

6. What is an Abstract and what do I need to include in the same?
The term "Abstract" refers to a synopsis of the Project (min 500 words). An individual can submit only one abstract. Multiple submissions will lead to disqualification. Refer abstract submission details.

7. Is there a Cap to the No. of Abstracts I can submit?
Yes, only one abstract is allowed through one registration id.

8. How and when do I get to know if my Abstract is selected?
You would be sent an Email (on the email-ID provided by you while registration) confirming the selection of your abstract. Also, you can check freescaledesignchallenge.electronicsforu.com during the week of April 20, 2014 for registration ID of Top 50 participants.

9. OK, my Abstract is selected. What now?
CONGRATULATIONS! You have just passed the Round 1. After announcements, you will be sent a mail, please go through that to order. The top 50 participants will be offered *one complimentary hardware tool (shipping to be paid for by participant) and one version of CodeWarrior™ tool, Special Edition to your registered address. You need to submit your detailed project by July 27, 2014 11:59 p.m. IST.

10. When can I start working on my project?
If you are among the top 50, then you can order a free tool by logging to a link that will be shared with you in an e-mail announcing the same. As soon as you get the hardware tool and one version of CodeWarrior™ tool, Special Edition you can start with your project. However, if you already have the required tool you can start ASAP.

11. Can I get more than one Board?
Participants can order more boards if they would like. However, only one tool will be paid for by Freescale for the top 50 participants.

12. I am not amongst the top 50, can I still participate in the challenge for the final prize.
Yes, you can still participate. However, Freescale won’t give you free tools. Also, you need to adhere to project submission deadlines as mentioned on the challenge website.

13. Can I submit more than one Project using the same board?
The project that you submit should be in relevance to the abstract selected by us identified by the unique project id OR it would be disqualified.

14. Will I get Technical support to complete my Project?
The first level of support on Kinetis L Series MCU can be taken from Freescale website. If you have more query, please write to FSLDC@freescale.com.

15. What is the deadline for submitting a Project/Entry?
We should receive the Project/ Entry Submissions latest by 11:59 p.m. IST, July 27, 2014.

16. How do I submit my Project / Entry?
To submit an Entry, you must upload your project files by logging in using the Login/password provided while registration. Click here to Login. For more details on format of Entry submissions, read Rules and Regulations page.

17. What all do I need to include in the Project/Entry submission (Entry Requirements)?
For any Entry to be accepted, it should include an abstract, video of working model (narrating and demonstrating the working of the project), flowcharts, Schematics, layouts (in source format & PDF) and source code collectively. Note: The documentation and materials should not have the name of the Contestant/s. This would disqualify the contestant/s. The Project ID has to be mentioned in the Entry and this alone will completely identify the Project work. Please refer information on abstract submission and project guidelines.

18. Who owns the IP rights of the Project?

19. What are the Prizes?
First prize: INR 100,000
Second prize: INR 75,000
Third prize: INR 50,000

Also, the top 50 entries will receive one hardware tool and one version of CodeWarrior™ Special Edition software.

20. What will be the judging criteria for this entries and the award?
Each design paper will be reviewed by a panel of Freescale and Challenge Managing Partner judges for the following:
1.Creativity
2.Design efficiency
3.Number of Freescale products incorporated in the design
4.Technical complexity
5.Usefulness of application
6.Overall application rating
7.Environmental benefit potential for end use product

21. Will I get the full amount of the Prize?
The prize money that you win is liable to deductions like taxes, fees, duties, levies, etc. Please refer official rules and regulations for more information.

22. Where can I see the results?
We will be sending emails to top 50 participants to confirm the same. Stay tuned. Alternately results will be updated on – freescaledesignchallenge.electronicsforu.com.

23. What are the reasons that can lead to my disqualification from entering or winning the challenge?
